In Times Of Darkness

During the dark days of life we must choose how we will respond. We can sink even more deeply into our sadness or do the difficult work of pulling ourselves out. Light is brought to darkness when we “run to God” and then to trusted family members on those dark occasions. When we go to work solving the problems instead of letting them confront us the clouds will eventually part and the sun will shine once again upon our souls.

We all go through pain and sorrow, but the presence of God, like a warm comforting blanket can shield us and protect us and allow the deep inner joy to surface, in the most devastating circumstances.

2 Corinthians 4:8-9 (New International Version)
8We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; 9persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.

John 5:4 (New International Version)
4for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.

Isaiah 55:8-12 (New International Version)
8 "For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,"
declares the LORD.
9 "As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.
10 As the rain and the snow
come down from heaven,
and do not return to it
without watering the earth
and making it bud and flourish,
so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater,
11 So is my word that goes out from my mouth:
It will not return to me empty,
but will accomplish what I desire
and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
12 You will go out in joy
and be led forth in peace;
the mountains and hills
will burst into song before you,
and all the trees of the field
will clap their hands.

My Prayer: Heavenly Father, on those dark days when we are troubled, You comfort us if we turn our thoughts and prayers to You. When we are afraid, You protect us, when we are discouraged You lift us up. You are our unending source of strength Lord. In every circumstance let us trust Your plan and Your will for our lives. Amen
